Frozen Landscape of Zanskar, in a Watch
The story begins millions of years ago, when the supercontinent Gondwana existed as a single landmass. Over time, tectonic movement reshaped the Earth, breaking the continent apart and forming the oceans and landmasses we know today. As plates shifted, forests evolved, seas expanded, and mountain ranges slowly rose from the ground.
The Himalayas hold this geological history within their layers. They are among the youngest mountain ranges on the planet, yet they carry evidence of oceans, ancient rock formations, and the immense forces that shaped the earth.
The Valley of Zanskar
Within this vast range lies Zanskar, a remote valley in Leh. Known for its rugged cliffs, frozen landscapes, and extreme winters, the region remains one of the most isolated parts of the Himalayas.
The Indus River cuts through the valley, carving deep gorges through the mountains. Small settlements endure long winters where temperatures drop far below freezing. For trekkers, climbers, and explorers, Zanskar represents endurance, altitude, and the raw power of nature.
Translating the Landscape into a Watch
This outdoor watch takes its name from this valley. The intention was to reflect the stark terrain, the high cliffs, and the quiet strength of the mountains that play an important role in the region’s ecology.
The dial is the first element that reflects this landscape. Its white surface carries a grainy texture that resembles packed snow and frozen rock. When seen closely, it evokes the feeling of snow settling on the surface of a mountain ridge.
Above the dial sits a Superdome sapphire crystal, shaped with a gentle curve similar to naturally worn pebbles found in rivers and valleys. The shape of the crystal expands the view of the dial and gives the indices greater clarity.
Large diver-style applied indices ensure easy reading in outdoor conditions. The watch uses BGW9 Super-LumiNova, a blue lume known for its strong visibility in low light.

Built for Changing Conditions
The case is made from surgical-grade stainless steel, chosen for durability and resistance to changing climates. It is designed to handle outdoor use while maintaining a balanced and comfortable form.
On the back, the caseback carries subtle nature-inspired iconography, serving as a reminder of the landscape that influenced the watch.
The watch is paired with an FKM rubber strap, a material known for its flexibility and resistance to extreme weather. Whether in cold mountain conditions, on long trails, or in everyday settings, the strap offers reliability and comfort.

A Tribute to the Mountains
Zanskar represents the relationship between nature and design. The white dial, outdoor-ready construction, and simple form reflect the environment that inspired it.
This Indian automatic watch also connects with other monochrome pieces in the collection. The Mach 1 Avalanche, for example, takes inspiration from high-altitude aviators of the Indian Air Force. Its white dial reflects freshly fallen snow, where pilots often carry out some of their most demanding operations.
Across the collections, each watch follows a similar approach, drawing from modern Indian stories. Some focus on aviation and pilot watches, others on cricket or space exploration, while pieces like Zanskar and the Peninsula series look toward landscapes and the natural world.
Together, they represent a range of watches shaped by different parts of India’s environment and contemporary story. Zanskar stands among them as a watch influenced by the mountains, remote, resilient, and enduring.
