Watch Built from the Cities We Live In

For most of human history, we did not stay in one place. We moved in groups, following resources. There were no permanent settlements, it was only about survival.
When farming was discovered, it changed human civilisation forever. About 8,000 years ago, people settled down, built permanent homes, and formed the world's first villages.

Today, most of us live in cities. There are 37 megacities in the world, each home to more than 10 million people. Six of those are in India. This has consequence. Cities cover just 2% of the planet's land and generate 70% of all carbon emissions. The carbon we cannot see is the one we live with every day.

The Story Behind Peninsula Carbon

Peninsula Carbon is part of the Peninsula line, a watch collection built around India's landscapes of forests, mountains, and coastlines. The Peninsula Professional began with a story of nature, the quietness of the outdoors, and the ancient landmass that formed over millions of years. Peninsula Carbon is the new chapter. The transition from forest, mountain, and ocean to the cities we now actually live in.

This is a cultural statement. When you wear it, the dial is a reminder of what our cities leave behind.

The Dial

For the first time in the world, the dial is made from ReforgeCarbon™ - a proprietary material developed by Bangalore Watch Company. Each dial is formed by compressing carbon fibres and recovered carbon black (rCB) within a resin under high pressure. rCB comes from the pyrolysis of end-of-life industrial waste — material that would otherwise be burned and released into the air as pollution.

This is what makes it forged carbon, not standard carbon fibre.

In the past, BWC has developed materials that were not previously used in its watches. One such example is Cerasteel®, a proprietary case material created as an alternative to titanium, which is featured in the Apogee collection. In a similar way, this dial represents another step in material innovation. If you've followed the brand over the years, you'll know that BWC has become known for its work with meteorite dials across several space-inspired watches, constantly exploring new materials and stories through watchmaking.

Shaped by modern cities, built for everyday wear

Peninsula brings together two ends of the same story. On one side is the Peninsula Professional — inspired by India's natural landscapes, its ancient landmass shaped over millions of years. On the other is Peninsula Carbon — a watch built from the material that our cities produce, turned into something permanent and wearable.
This is an outdoor watch with a carbon dial. It is shaped by human ambition but grounded in the reality of what that ambition costs. A watch made from the material. The first of its kind in the world, and one that reaches you first.

The Peninsula Carbon is one of the most distinct watches we have built, more than just inspired by the cities and their air, it is rugged, outdoor-ready, and built to last. Alongside it, our other collections like the cricket-inspired watch Cover Drive, India’s space watch Apogee, and the outdoor-focused Peninsula Professional are all designed with the same focus on quality and craftsmanship.
