Watch Inspired by the Place Behind the Boundary Rope
On any cricket ground, most eyes follow the ball, the bat, the pitch, and the outfield. These are the elements that come to mind first when you think about the game, and they've shaped much of how we've designed our Cover Drive collection. But there's one place that rarely gets attention, even though it's closer to the game than almost anywhere else on the ground: the Pavilion.
For over a billion of us, cricket is more than a sport; it's an emotion. Played in small clubs across the country since the 1800s, the game's place in India changed after the 1983 World Cup win, and it's only grown since, now watched and played far beyond our borders. Every gully, every empty lot, every patch of open ground has doubled as a pitch at some point. That connection to the game runs through everything we've built into Cover Drive.
A Collection Built on Small Details
Across Cover Drive, cricket shows up in details that are easy to miss at first glance. At 12 o'clock, a symbolic ball sits above indices shaped like the three stumps, a nod to the wicket's origins in 1775, when a third stump was added after a ball passed clean through the original two. At 4 and 6 o'clock, cutouts mark the boundary shots. Even the counterbalance on the seconds hand is shaped like a cricket bat, a small, functional detail that ties the watch back to the game with every tick.
The Pavilion
The Pavilion takes this a step further, drawing its name and inspiration from the one part of a cricket ground most of us never get close to. It's where the game unfolds between overs, between players, in the space right behind the boundary rope. This cricket watch is our attempt to bring that vantage point onto the wrist.
The Pavilion carries the same cricket details found across Cover Drive: the wicket-shaped 12 o'clock marker, the boundary cutouts at 4 and 6, and the bat-shaped counterbalance on the seconds hand. Its case comes in a compact 40mm that wears closer to 38mm, thanks to a contoured caseback. The sandwich-styled dial pairs with C3 Super-LuminNova and a solid steel bezel with 120 clicks lets you track overs through a 50-overs or T20 match. Turn the watch over, and the caseback carries a deeply embossed relief of a batsman playing a shot to the covers.
Stories Across Bangalore Watch Company
At Bangalore Watch Company, every collection is built around a story. Apogee draws from India's achievements in space. Mach 1 takes its inspiration from aviation. Peninsula Professional looks to the country's diverse outdoor landscapes. Cover Drive is our tribute to cricket, and the Pavilion is a reminder that it isn't only the game on the field that shapes that story.
It's a modern idea for a watch, one built around a place most people would never think to look at, let alone build a design around. But that's exactly where the Pavilion comes from, a part of the ground that's as much a part of the game as anything happening in front of the boundary rope.
