Where the Game Really Begins

In cricket, the pitch is where everything happens. The flat brown strip in the middle of the ground decides how the game unfolds. It’s where the bowler lands the ball, the batter times the shot, and runs are made between the wickets.

Even in gully cricket, the first thing we look for is a smooth, flat patch of ground. No grass, no bumps. Just a clear surface where the ball can bounce true. When rain comes in during a match, you’ve probably seen the pitch covered carefully with sheets. That brown strip is protected because the game depends on it.

The pitch may not be the most visible part of the stadium from the stands, but it’s the surface that shapes every over, every shot, and every moment of play.

The Idea Behind Cover Drive Pitch

Cover Drive Pitch takes its cue from this central surface of the game. This Indian automatic watch is built around the look and feel of the cricket pitch, grounding the design in the part of the game where action actually happens.

The dial comes in a matte brown finish, paired with a brown Chepauk cheroot genuine leather strap. The colours and textures are chosen to feel familiar to anyone who’s spent time around a cricket ground, whether watching a match from the stands or playing on a local pitch.

A Dial That Reflects the Wicket

The watch features a sandwich dial with a three-layer construction. Cutouts on the dial are shaped like wicket stumps, with white indices filled with C3 lume for visibility in low light. The structure of the dial adds depth while staying rooted in the simple geometry of the stumps that define the pitch.

The matte brown finish of the dial mirrors the surface of a well-prepared pitch. It’s not glossy or decorative. It’s meant to feel functional and grounded, much like the surface it draws from.

Details Drawn from the Game

The texture on the outer bezel and the crown takes inspiration from the grip of a cricket bat handle. It’s a small detail, but one that connects this cricket watch to the tactile parts of the game.

The seconds hand carries a counterbalance shaped like a bat, adding another quiet reference to cricket equipment without turning the watch into a novelty piece. These details are subtle enough to be noticed over time, rather than all at once.

From the Stands to the Wrist

Like the other watches in the Cover Drive collection, the strap carries a colour reference linked to Chepauk Stadium. The caseback, made from stainless steel, features a 3D embossed design of a batsman playing through the covers, tying the watch back to the name of the collection and the shot that inspired it.

Together, the dial, strap, bezel, and caseback bring the feel of the pitch and the stadium onto the wrist. It’s a way of carrying a small part of the game with you, even when you’re away from the ground.

One Story Among Many

Cover Drive Pitch is one expression of how everyday Indian experiences can shape watch design. Cricket is a shared language across the country, played and followed by people of all ages. The Cover Drive collection reflects that broad connection to the game.

Across Bangalore Watch Company's watch collections, different worlds come into focus. Apogee looks to space and materials shaped beyond Earth. MACH 1 draws from aviation and flight. Peninsula reflects outdoor landscapes and travel. Each watch starts from an Indian context, but the themes travel beyond borders, connecting to experiences that are understood globally.

Cover Drive Pitch sits within this larger set of stories. It begins with a 24-yard strip of ground where matches are decided and carries that idea into a watch designed to be worn every day.
