Europa Star
Europa Star featured Forty-Seven, Bangalore Watch Company's first pocket watch. The article opens with India today, a fast-growing economy of ambitious, literate young people building companies, aircraft, and rockets, before tracing it back to a country with a literacy rate of just 12 percent and a per-capita income of $50, choosing to build its future rather than dwell on its past.
Since 2018, Bangalore Watch Company has told stories through aviation, cricket, space exploration, and the outdoors. With Forty-Seven, the brand goes back to where those stories began. As Co-Founder Nirupesh Joshi puts it, a pocket watch was the natural format for a tribute to the years that shaped modern India. Co-Founder Mercy Amalraj adds that after a string of firsts in materials and engineering, this release is the brand's attempt to broaden what it can do as a watchmaker, while giving customers a new format with a strong backstory.
