Inspired by diverse terrain
Released in 2025, the Peninsula watch collection draws from a story that began over 180 years ago and shaped the land as we know it today. The collection represents this journey through watches inspired by the sea, forest, and mountains, along with a limited-edition watch featuring a mother-of-pearl dial.
The continent we know today is the result of long and slow shifts in Earth’s landmass. Around 180 million years ago, during the Jurassic period, a vast supercontinent known as Gondwana began to break apart. What would eventually become South America, Africa, Arabia, Madagascar, India, Australia, and Antarctica were once connected as a single landmass.
A Country Shaped by Land and Water
India’s beauty lies in its contrasts. Tropical beaches stretch across Goa, Kerala, and the island territories, while Rajasthan’s deserts tell a different story altogether. The Western Ghats support dense rainforests and some of the highest rainfall zones in the world, while regions like the Nilgiris offer rolling hills and cooler climates.
With a coastline of over 7,500 kilometres, India is bordered by beaches, mangroves, coral reefs, and open waters. These environments continue to influence how people live, travel, and interact with nature. Peninsula tells the stories of these landscapes through a watch designed for outdoor.
The Peninsula Professional
The Peninsula Collection, launched in 2025, is a tribute to this geographical diversity. Each outdoor watch in the collection draws inspiration from a distinct region of India, translating landscape into design.
Zanskar
Inspired by the high-altitude region of Zanskar in Leh, this watch represents the colder northern terrain marked by mountains, valleys, and rivers. Zanskar remains remote and largely untouched, known for its stark beauty and rare wildlife. The watch features a white, snow-inspired dial, paired with a stainless-steel case and a black genuine FKM strap, designed for durability and outdoor use.
Agumbe
Agumbe represents the lush forests of the Western Ghats, one of India’s most rain-rich regions. Known for its dense greenery and biodiversity, Agumbe has influenced a watch with a green dial and a tree motif index, symbolising forest cover and natural growth. It stands for the tropical ecosystems found across the subcontinent.
Laccadive
Surrounding the Lakshadweep islands, the Laccadive Sea is known for its clear blue waters and marine life. The Laccadive watch reflects this environment through a deep blue dial and a wave-inspired index, representing the waters that surround the Indian peninsula.
Mannar
The Mannar looks further back in history. The Gulf of Mannar was once ruled by Tamil kingdoms, where free divers collected pearls from shallow waters for trade. The black mother-of-pearl oyster, once abundant and now rare, forms the dial of this watch. Limited to 50 pieces, the Mannar carries a material that is both historic and increasingly scarce.
Built for the Outdoors
The Peninsula collection is designed for movement and exploration. With 200 metres of water resistance, these Indian automatic watches are suited for diving, trekking, travel, and everyday wear. Large indices and hands ensure clarity, while the Super-LumiNova glow offers visibility in low light.
The design remains straightforward, allowing the watch to move easily between outdoor use and daily life.
A Story That Continues
The Peninsula collection connects modern watchmaking with landscapes shaped over 180 million years. It reflects how ancient geological changes still influence how we experience the world today.
Alongside Peninsula, Bangalore Watch Company continues to tell modern Indian stories through watch collections inspired by space exploration in Apogee and cricket in Cover Drive. Each watch is rooted in place, history, and purpose designed to take the wearer closer to the story it represents.
