Red and White Manoeuvre

It was the morning of Republic Day, and the skies above India turned into a stage of aerobatics. As the national flag unfurled and the anthem played, the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team took flight in nine aircraft in perfect formation, streaking the horizon with brilliant red and white trails.

The team’s synchronized manoeuvres, including loops, rolls, and precise formations such as triangle, arrow, and diamond patterns, demonstrated a high level of coordination and control. Each formation followed a set pattern to keep the shapes accurate and well-balanced in the air. The red and white colors were chosen to make the aircraft clearly visible against the sky during the show. For viewers, the display showed the high level of skill and discipline needed for formation flying.

The Diamond Formation

Among the most striking of the Suryakiran formations is the diamond formation, where nine aircraft converge in precise symmetry - a feat of exceptional coordination and trust. This formation has long been a motif of excellence and teamwork, appearing in murals, defense installations, and aviation memorials across India, from the Indian Air Force Museum in Palam to the Air Force Academy in Dundigal.

To celebrate 25 years of the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team, Bangalore Watch Company™ introduced Mach 1 Synchro, a limited-edition watch of 125 uniquely numbered watches that honours the aerobatics team.

Design That Honors Intricacy

Synchro is a limited edition watch that carries the Suryakiran story on its dial. At the 9 o’clock position, nine aircraft appear in their iconic diamond formation: a tribute to Asia’s only nine-aircraft aerobatic display team. Their red-and-white livery is precisely printed on the dial, an intricate artwork that captures both artistry and engineering.

The tribute continues in the minute hand, with white and red stripes mirroring the aircraft's livery. Together, these design details reflect the emotion, precision, and pride synonymous with the Suryakiran name.

Each watch in the Synchro series is both a mechanical marvel and a symbolic reminder of the skies it draws inspiration from; every manoeuvre is a story of discipline and excellence.

The Pilots Who Fly It

Becoming a part of the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team is among the highest honors in the Indian Air Force. Each pilot is handpicked from the ranks of experienced fighter pilots and undergoes intensive aerobatic training, mastering precision flying at speeds exceeding 600 km/h, often just meters apart.

The training is physically and mentally demanding, requiring complete synchronization and trust. Their performance reflects years of service, skill, and an unyielding passion for aviation.

Celebrating Contemporary India

The Synchro is part of Bangalore Watch Company’s MACH 1 Collection, watches that celebrate India’s aviation heritage and the pilots who define it. From the MACH 1X – High Altitude Edition to the Admiral, made using metal from the decommissioned INS Vikrant, each watch in the series pays homage to the courage and innovation of the Indian Armed Forces.

At Bangalore Watch Company™, every collection tells a story of the contemporary Indian spirit. The Cover Drive celebrates India’s cricketing passion. The Apogee honours the country’s space achievements. The Peninsula captures the diverse landscapes of India’s mountains, forests, and coasts. And now, the Synchro stands as a salute to the skies to the pilots who perform manoeuvres that defy human limits and inspire awe every time they take flight.
